The magic of Christmas in Rome

Perhaps best of all on the visit to Rome on vacation (no time given, it can be presented almost en bloc in December) is the experience of beauty and rich traditions of an Italian Christmas, the city can be seen throughout.

Piazza Navona, one of the most famous squares in Rome a center of the stage during the holiday season. A Christmas market is set to include all types of games, candy and toys for children as well as holiday Craftsmen, artists and food for adults. Children get their socks here for the "Befana", as the little witch 'who brings candy to good children on Epiphany known. Even Santa makes his appearance here special.

On the other hand, is the magical setting of the Vatican during the holiday season. Each year, a nativity scene was created and is presented on Christmas Eve. Pilgrims from all over the world drawn to Rome, only to see it. In addition to>nativity, a tree is also placed in the center of St. Peter's square that measures about 30 meters (100 feet). This tradition was originated by Pope John Paul II in 1982 and since then, it's been a gift from one of Italy's regions or an E.U. nation.

Midnight mass takes place on Christmas Eve and is given by the Pope at St. Peter's Basilica. If you are fortunate enough to obtain tickets for this grand event, it is truly a special one to enjoy. Without the tourist crowds or long Lines, you can really take in the traditional faith of the holiday by one of the most important places of worship in the world of Christianity.
