My Thanksgiving Smoked Turkey has been a great success

My wife will not let me into the kitchen on Thanksgiving Day. Although the smell emanating from the oven made me dizzy, with the exception of the food I cook on the grill, I'm not allowed, even near the kitchen!

Smoked turkey this year was the best I've ever cooked, with no exceptions. It is not bragging, if the truth. to have company for Thanksgiving must also thought, why not have left Turkey with the exception of some fragments for the cat had.

I have something else thatYear. I decided to bring the bird. For years I had heard that this will somehow make Turkey a better taste. I thought it would just taste salty. I was wrong! The taste was wonderful!

Salting taste of birds and seals in juices, so that additional seasoning unnecessary. Smaller turkeys are easier to smoke than large, and are more fit in the pickle bucket. It also allows them to cook more evenly, because when I lifted the lid to take it off the grill, Turkeycollapsed, it was so tender.

The reason I did not brine the bird first was easy. I'm lazy and I am the salt would be a complicated issue. It was not. First I paid 2 ½ liters of water in a clean plastic bucket. So I have 1 cup of kosher salt, 1 / 2 cup salt, 1 rounded cup of brown sugar, 4 sage leaves, chopped 3 tablespoons fresh thyme and two tablespoons of black pepper restaurant grade. After mixing this until I compiled TurkeyBucket, completely immersed in brine. The bucket in the fridge for about 20 hours.

For Turkey, the smoke in the autumn or winter, I prefer an electric smoker, because it maintains a constant temperature. After rinsing all the salt the bird, I just put on the grill and close the cover. I threw a couple of small pieces of hickory on the floor of the smoker, as the bird cooked. Turkey started cooking at 10:30 clock on Thanksgiving Eve and I took it from him at 7:30 the next morning.I never lifted the lid of the smoker until it's time to remove the bird.

While admiring the smoke to drift randomly from the top of the smoker, I thought that life was good, and this year I have a couple of things for God to do as usual, had to thank.

I thanked him for the surgery more successful than my daughter cancer. Although chemotherapy and radiotherapy is under a terrible price for his physical, the doctor assures us that ifeveryone is ready, release the cancer.

I am also grateful that God has given her a great sense of humor and a positive attitude to the whole thing. Although she receives no doubt that based on his old man, I'm not sure that a similar situation with faith and class, have released the handle.

I am especially grateful that, despite the efforts of my doctor to kill with different combinations of blood pressure pills, finally has a potion that keeps my concoctedBlood pressure at a constant level for the first time in years. In recent months the pressure has dropped from 200/100 to 80/40 at noon, then back up to 180/100 before bedtime. I do not need speed roller coaster like that!

I thank him every night for our servicemen and women who risk their lives at risk in different parts of the world, so I have the freedom to cook a turkey on the grill at any time I may have to worry about someone without the firing of rockets at mySmokers who think wrongly that there is a threat to anyone.

I thanked God for my family, children and grandchildren of all, each with its hopes and dreams, successes and failures.

You need to know more of a blessing of us remember the time, or to appreciate it. We had our annual Thanksgiving feast, the deformation table with turkey, ham, sweet potatoes, cranberries, peas and other tasty dishes, so that waste enough that many families would be eating for a week. Wein fact, also be grateful, not only on Thanksgiving Day!
